Eating emotions.

30/09/2011

What’s the difference between eating pork loin in your own kitchen, or enjoying it as you watch a pig awakening on a big screen in the dark?

Txerri Jana (which translates from Basque to "meal of pork" or "eating pork") is a performance created by the Mugaritz team for the closing ceremony of TEDxBilbao in 2011.

Guests were served a selection of hors d’oeuvres featuring pork products while watching a film by Oskar Alegría about pigs that was intended to provoke and disconcert. The pigs appeared in everyday scenes on the farm, waking up in the morning, suckling, scratching themselves and grazing.

The guests definitely ate like pigs... but did they feel for them at all?
