The restaurant Mugaritz has been recognized with the award for Best Packaging Design at the 10th edition of the IWC Industry Awards, which celebrate innovation and excellence within the Spanish wine and gastronomic sector.

This award recognizes the visual and aesthetic work carried out by Mugaritz together with the San Sebastián–based design studio Estudio Primo for this unique project. Vis à Vis is a living and ever-evolving series of beverages launched by Mugaritz in 2022. Since then, the restaurant’s sommelier and R&D teams have explored collaborations with wineries and producers to create proposals that are uncorked exclusively at the restaurant. Estudio Primo has succeeded in transforming the packaging design into a sensory and narrative experience that aligns seamlessly with the Mugaritz philosophy.

The award was presented on November 6 in Madrid during the IWC Industry Awards 2025 gala, where 24 honors were given to leading figures in the sector. The jury of this tenth edition was chaired by Master of Wine Almudena Alberca. She was joined by Ferran Centelles, former sommelier at elBulli and co-chair of the Decanter World Wine Awards jury in Spain; Pilar Cavero, wine critic for ABC and Spain’s Best Sommelier in 2013, with extensive experience as a taster and educator; Juan Luis Asenjo, sommelier and writer with international experience; Benjamin Lana, managing director of Vocento Gastronomía; and, as a new member, Fernando Mora MW, engineer and Master of Wine, winemaker at Bodegas Frontonio and oenological consultant.
It was Mugaritz’s head sommelier, Kristell Monot, who took to the stage to receive this inspiring award, which encourages us to continue forging this exciting path
