'Diálogos de Cocina' is the first congress in the world organized by chefs and for chefs. The meeting is held every two years in San Sebastian and brings together scores of chefs, but also experts in the various fields: ethics, biology, genetics, gastronomy, food science, literature, biochemistry, marketing, philosophy, politics, sociology, information science, law, economics, psychology, fine arts, agriculture, biotechnology, ecology, medicine, mathematics, physics...

In March 2009, Mondragon Unibertsitatea and a number of Basque chefs set up the Basque Culinary Center (BCulinary) Foundation, with backing from public institutions. The centre, which will open for business in 2011 and located in San Sebastian, will be home to a Faculty of Gastronomic and Culinary Sciences and a Research and Innovation Centre.
